In the class of mini excavators, there are no rigid distinctions by type. Usually manufacturing companies offer models of various sizes, which, of course, differ only in cost and performance. Structurally, machines from different manufacturers also differ little. All models on the market have 2 speeds of movement "forward – backward". Counterweight, chassis, excavator equipment, controls have minor design differences.
Among the main advantages of mini excavators are their maneuverability, compactness and ease of operation. They can work in any hard-to-reach places where the use of other types of special equipment is impossible, and the only way out is manual labor. Mini excavators are equipped with a tracked chassis, which allows them to have stability, excellent cross-country ability with minimal ground pressure. In addition, this type of special equipment has a favorable price, which will range from 35-80 thousand euros. It is economical and does not require complex and costly maintenance.
The disadvantages of mini excavators are a direct consequence of their advantages. Equipped with a tracked chassis significantly reduces the speed of movement, which here will be 3-6 km / h. That is why this type of special equipment is rarely used by emergency services. Low mobility makes it impossible to use some attachments. For example, it will be useless to use a trencher or a loading bucket due to the low speed of movement here. The compact dimensions of mini excavators also have their unpleasant consequences. This is a small digging depth and a small effort at the edge of the bucket. However, construction tasks are always carried out using various equipment, and any machines have their limitations. Significant earthworks are carried out with the help of various special equipment in terms of parameters and characteristics, so the disadvantages of mini excavators can hardly be considered seriously.
